There’s only one Kardashian family and they aren’t the only people in the media, right? It’s important to realize that PR is not only for celebrities. That’s another myth I want to bash. Yes, we see Hollywood celebrities in the media a lot because Celebrity Sells. You can attach yourself to a celebrity (without any real connection) and land in the press that way. Here’s a video I did on that:

So that’s a great way to tie yourself to a celebrity to get publicity but you have the ability to make yourself the celebrity in your industry by landing in the media. By positioning yourself as an industry expert you have the ability to be an “industry celebrity.”

There are several steps to take to make you look like the industry celebrity that you are. Remember that the media (and for that matter, any potential clients or customers) will check you out. Do you check out? Things to think about are your website. When someone lands on it, do you they know right away what you do and what you do for THEM. Is your social media consistent with that message as well? Does your content back up what you say you do? Check out this short 1:55-minute video I did about this. You really must check out when the media checks you out. This is your fastest way to get the YES with them! Make it easy for them to use you which in turn makes you “famous.”

So you can see how PR is not just for Hollywood celebrities. It’s for all of us who can use publicity to make us celebrities in our own right.

If you missed the first 4 myths, you can check out the videos on YouTube HERE or read the posts on my blog HERE You’ll see why PR doesn’t get you sales but what does, whether or not size matters, and why PR doesn’t make you famous but what you can do to do that.

Hi everyone. It’s Christina Daves with this week’s Free Publicity Friday PR Tip. I’m doing a lot of myths, debunking myths on PR. So I’m going to give you week number five of debunking a myth and that is that PR is only for celebrities. But before I dive in, make sure you subscribe to the channel and ring the bell so you’re notified of all these videos that I put out to help you land in the media.

PR is not just for celebrities. It’s not and my platform is Get PR Famous and I hear people say, “Oh, but I don’t want to be famous, Christina.” Well, here’s the deal, somebody in your industry is going to be famous. It’s going to be the one that the media goes to, the regular person, look at like a Suze Orman, a Doctor Phil, these people became famous in their Industries and the media likes that.

They’re going to find that person. So you can totally build your own celebrity in the media and that’s what I want you to do and that’s what I help people do. So it’s not just for the Kardashians and people like that. Publicity is for you and me and everybody else because we can provide value to an audience. We all have a gift. We all have an expertise and it’s up to us to share that.

So that is this week’s PR tip. If you like this, if you’d like to learn more. If you’d like to talk to me about how to become famous in your industry, let’s set up a call at ChatwithChristina.com and I can’t wait to see you in the media.
