I spent Tuesday interviewing people for my online business show, More-2-Media on Daily Ad Brief, and what I found in every call was the importance of storytelling. Every guest talked about how in today’s marketing efforts, story has become invaluable. The days of “cut and paste” marketing and doing what everyone else is doing are long gone! People want to work with people so they need to get to know you. The best way to do this is through the power of storytelling.  Every aspect of your content should have some story woven into it. Whether you are sharing a customer journey, a customer experience, writing your about section on your website or LinkedIn, etc., it needs to be based on a story. Everything has a story. What is yours? What is your customer’s story?

Instead of just posting on social media , incorporate a story, give your insight, your feedback, an example. When you are creating video, incorporate a story into this as well. It’s such a great way to connect with people and have them get to know you and what you stand for, what you believe in, and who you like to work with. They can really get to know you when you put story into video and your social media posts.

Hey everyone, it’s Christina Daves with this week’s Free Publicity Friday PR Tip. This week I really want to dive in on storytelling, because story is so crucial in all aspects of marketing and PR today. So make sure that when you watch this video, you like our YouTube page and make sure you ring the bell and subscribe so you get notified of all of these.

But storytelling… you know marketing used to be just kind of cut and paste. Oh, this is good. This is good. People want to work with people. People need to know why you’re doing what you do. Why your clients had success. I just did some work for an orthodontist and they were posting all of these things about all these testimonials like this woman who did braces in her 50s and I told them get the why out of her. Why was that important for her? So you need to tell stories? You know think, would you rather see a testimonial that said, “Oh, Christina was 50 and got braces.” Or, “Christina’s life was transformed when she lived her whole life with a mouthful of crooked teeth and now, after working with us, she has a beautiful smile, and her confidence is elevated, and she got a promotion at work.” Tell the story.

So, really think about before you post, before you pitch, before you do anything. What’s the story? How can we make people feel and really share that with your audience.
