Watch this Week’s PR Tip:
Do you ever wonder how to be on tv shows? I am super passionate about this because there is no better way to get in front of thousands, hundreds of thousands, even millions of potential clients or customers then by being on television. I’ve given you multiple resources for pitching yourself on local news and television program and also national television show like Today Show, Good Morning America, CNBC, Fox and Friends, and more. I interviewed my local FOX anchor >> HERE and she talked about how to get on local television. I’ve been on national shows like TODAY, Dr. Oz, Steve Harvey, and even a television show about inventors that was syndicated across the country on FOX stations called The Next Great Thing.
I walk this walk with you and do this every single day in my own business. In fact, just last week I was on television in Atlanta and also Detroit positioned as a media expert talking about the new social media platform, Parler. Everything I share with you, I do too and I know it works because I regularly land in the media myself.
Be on TV
This is an oldie but a goodie where I interviewed a former producer from TODAY Show who talked about what you need to do to get a segment.
It’s not rocket science to land in the media. It’s just following a system and doing it consistently. You can’t just throw spaghetti on the wall and hope it sticks. You need a planned approach to pitching the media every single month. The media needs experts like all of us, regularly. Besides pitching yourself as I’ve described in many blog posts and on our You Tube Channel, you can use the tip provided this week about pitching the daytime shows via their website. As with any media outlet, do the homework and see what THEY are looking for and use that information to pitch them what THEY want and need to fit into their format. This week’s PR Tip shows you a great hack to find out what they’re looking for. Every daytime show has a section on their website called, “Be a Guest” where they talk about upcoming shows they are looking for guests for. Apply through that link.
It’s just like editorial calendars with magazines, media outlets have a structure and by using that structure, you are more likely to get a yes than by pulling ideas out of a hat. They have a plan for the season and by making your idea fit into THEIR plan, you’re more likely to have success.
FREE PR
By landing in these shows with millions of viewers, you are getting free PR and huge exposure to potential customers. My appearance on the Steve Harvey Show was years ago but people still remember the segment and people still buy my product from seeing that show. As I mentioned above, there is no greater way to get million sf people to learn about your business at no cost that landing in the media. What are you waiting for?
