Watch this Week’s PR Tip:

Get on Daytime Talk Shows

Here is one of my top tips for landing national media… pitch the national daytime talkshows. Usually, they go on hiatus from May through August and the week after Labor Day is “premier week.” With COVID, however, this year has been a little different but most shows re-launched this week. Interestingly, many are back in studio with no audience and socially distanced guests.

This being said, the shows still need content. Shows like Ellen, Kelly Clarkson, Tamron Hall, Rachael Ray, The Doctors, Dr. Oz, and newcomer Drew Berrymore have one hour long show to fill and you could be their next guest. Go to their website and look for the tab that says, “Be a Guest on the Show.” They will have a long list of various topics they are looking to fill.

Topics will range from dating to cooking to business and entrepreneurship. If you are a product based business, there are often opportunities for sponsored giveaways. This means that you provide a product or even your book to everyone in the audience in exchange for an on-air plug. That plug could easily be reaching millions and millions of viewers.

As many of you know, I was on the Steve Harvey Show back in 2012. That is 8 years ago. I still meet people, who then check me out on Google, and when they see the clip will email me and say, “I remember that show when you won.” This has let my product live on for years and years. Although I did not pay to be on the show, this was a pre-planned segment, Steve’s Top Inventor Competition. It was actually listed on his website as one of the shows they were looking for guests for. I came in through HARO but others were on the show from applying through the show’s site.

This is a tremendous opportunity to land national media coverage and I can speak first-hand what that appearance did for and continues to do for CastMedic Designs.
