Using Media to Attract Clients

Watch this Week’s PR Tip:

PR Advice

When my clients land in the media, one of the first things they ask me is , “Now what?”

Media provides so much credibility for an expert – but it’s up to you, as that expert, to use the media appearance to your advantage. The first thing you want to do, of course, is to put it everywhere – your website, post on LinkedIn and all other active social media platforms, if you use Twitter, schedule it in a media “bucket” so it is regularly posted, and/or write a blog post about it. You want to share that media hit anywhere you are active online.

Also, don’t forget about “Throwback Thursdays” on social media to highlight it again and again. You can always pin the post on Facebook or Twitter so anyone who comes to those platforms will see it first. When you gather a few logos, put that everywhere too. Media logos allow you to borrow that outlet’s credibility.

The piece that most people miss, however, is that landing in the media is a great way to connect with existing and potential clients and customers. This is your big opportunity to show people you hope to work with that you are seen as an authority in the media. Here’s my big tip… update your signature line with your latest article or television segment, “Check out my latest article in [media outlet w/link].”

Studies show that people in the media are seen as more credible and are able to charge more for their services. Now is your opportunity to get that media exposure and use it your advantage to attract your dream clients.

Hi everybody. It’s Christina Daves with this week’s Get Famous Friday PR Tip. This week I want to talk about why publicity is so important and that is that it gives you an opportunity to put yourself back in front of your potential clients and customers. Every time you get media exposure, make sure those people know about it.

This gives you so much credibility and so much authority in your space. Make sure that the people you’re trying to reach – it’s another touch point for them. And with that, you’re throwing on all of that credibility and authority that the media gives you. So that is why you really want to get media exposure and that’s something you do with your media exposure is share it with your clients and customers.

So that is this week’s Get Famous Friday PR Tip.
