The Clothing Line Made For Women in Construction with Brenda “Maxx” McGee

by | Nov 26, 2025 | Living Ageless and Bold, Podcast

Brenda “Maxx” McGee is a former model and longtime union carpenter who spent 27 years working in the trade show industry before launching Gott Street Blues, a workwear brand designed specifically for women in construction. Her background spans fashion, carpentry, cabinet-making, and union leadership — all of which shaped her mission to create functional clothing for women in male-dominated trades.

In this episode, Brenda sits down with Christina to discuss her unconventional path from childhood tomboy to runway model, to being the only woman carpenter on show floors, and now an entrepreneur building a clothing company at 65. She shares how she navigated gender bias on the job, why she revived her decades-old business idea, and the determination behind creating workwear that finally fits and supports women in the trades.
