You want to use the current Hollywood Award Season for PR. By relating your business nominated movies and pitching stories around those movies, you increase your rate of success for landing media by having a timely story to share. The Golden Globe nominations came out on February 3rd and The Oscars will be announced on March 15th.

Pitch Stories Around Nominated Movies

Take a look at the movies that have beeb nominated and pitch stores around that. The 2021 Golden Globes list for best motion picture is:

  • “The Father”
  • “Mank”
  • “Nomadland”
  • “Promising Young Woman”
  • “The Trial of the Chicago 7”
  • “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”
  • “Hamilton”
  • “Palm Springs”

The Father is about aging. If you are in that space, working with the elderly at all, use the story to create your own story and media pitch.

Mank is set in the 1930’s. You can talk about what your industry was like in the 1930’s and compare it to now.

Nomadland is about a woman who loses everything during a recession. That can be equated to life now during COVID. There are so many opportunities to pitch the media using the backdrop of Awards season.

You can do this for movies. And also if an actor or actress was nominated and the movie they were in is related to your industry. Use that as your pitch.The media LOVES celebrity so make it super easy for them by giving them what they want. Get creative and think outside of the box and align your business with an award nominated film or actor.
