Let’s start 2021 off with a media BANG! Here are examples of media pitches for the start of the year. Lots of new things are going on in 2021 and new is what is ‘new’sworthy and what the media wants.

One of the easiest things to pitch when there is a new President is things about their platform and their new Administration. What Executive Orders did they sign into law right away related to your expertise that you can discuss in the media? That is a perfect thing to pitch. Think outside of the box. It doesn’t have to be a story about exactly what they signed. What ramifications might it have? How could it impact your industry or profession. Or, how will it affect others so position yourself as a subject matter expert.

Think environment and healthcare. Think where jobs will be lost and gained. What is President Biden’s platform on vaccines and COVID? What is he undoing that President Trump put into place? What does having the first female, African American vice president mean? What will it change?

Who has President Biden appointed to run his cabinet? What background do they have? Are they good or bad for your industry? Look at their past experience and what they did in that position and make predictions for what they will do for the country.

Then, look at the platform President Biden ran on. What is his agenda for the next four years? What is he going to try to push through? Look at what President Biden has done in his first week in office. There is already quite a bit to talk about. Use your expertise and position yourself as an industry expert and pitch the media about the topic. Topics are endless right now and everyone has the ability to be an expert in their industry.

Remember the media is always looking for “new” ideas. Discussing all things about a new Administration will keep the media busy for all of January and into February too. Let’s make sure YOU are the one they are using in these stories.
